Wooden Bead Necklace DIY

In prep for looking fabulous at Alt, I got a little crazy in the DIY jewelery department...which was kind of the idea. And I think it worked because when I wore this little (ahem...big) number to the Mini Parties, lots of ladies asked where I got it.
"I made it!"
I beamed with pride!
And now you can too!
If you make it to the end of the post I have a STORY and a SURPRISE that I am dying to tell you!

Tools/Supplies:
- Various wooden blocks and balls
- A clamp
- A drill
- Craft paint and paintbrush
- Blue painter's tape
- Ribbon or sting of choice
- Piece of wood to drill over (this just stops you from drilling into your craft table on accident...which I may or may not have done...twice).

1| Use the clamp to secure your wooden bead...and then drill a hole through that sucker. I drilled in and back out a couple times to get rid of the extra splinters.

2| Using the painter's tape, tape off the sections you want to be your first color. I chose neon pink as my first color because it's almost February, neon is in, it matched my skirt...

3| Paint taped-off area, let dry, peal of tape, and admire your progress!

4| Repeat steps 2 and 3 with your second color choice. I have been on a bit gold and metallic kick lately so gold seemed right.

Note about design: get creative! I did triangles, geometric shapes, stripes...go ahead, let you crafting freak flag fly!

5| Sting a ribbon or string of your choice through and tada necklace!

You made it! Now for my story...See I wore the pink necklace above to an Alt Summit mini party and while there I bumped into Erin from Design for Mankind. Folks, she's kinda a big deal (and seriously one of the kindest people I have ever met). I mean I was star-struck. And then she asked if my necklace was for sale (gasp!) and I was all, "I made it! You can have it!" She then insisted on buying it and told me I should sell them online and all I could think was "Yes Ma'am!"
So...my announcement of sorts is that I will be opening an online store soon! My hope is to have it up, running, and products ready by March! Wish me luck and don't forget to keep and eye out for more A Ruffled Life Shop announcements!
