my house is a mess

We are moving. If you didn't catch the moving announcement you can read it here. And as a result, my house is an effing mess of a mess. Okay, maybe that last sentence was a bit dramatic and a hint vulgar. But this morning was a morning where I stared at the mountains of boxes around me and was like "Maybe I should just eat ice cream instead of pack."
Rewind a bit...we woke up to snow--a blizzard. It is October 25th (I checked this morning to make sure I didn't sleep through November and right into December). As a result, we turned on the heater and my Instagram feed was blowing up with snow pics (I added one myself-it is below). Welcome to Utah weather!

Liam and I stayed in bed extra late (until 10:00) and I made sure to cuddle him lots because he is a runny-nose teething mess. He seemed to appreciate the extra snuggles. In fact, I need to wrap this up so I can cuddle him to bed.
And based on the blizzard we are having tonight...Merry Christmas!

fall love and reflections

Last week we stumbled upon this perfect house (pictured above). To me, this house says "fall" in every way. Twin rocking chairs cuddle up on the porch. Arching maples sprinkle the lawn with fall leaves. A tree swing welcomes you. Yes, this house is fall perfection. Stop me before I break into song.

Something about fall really brings out the sentimental in me. It makes me want to watch Little Women and look at family photos, and eat pumpkin flavored everything. I start to get gift-giving-y and want to solve world hunger one soup bowl at a time, and can't wait for sub-for-Santas. I even wait impatiently at the mailbox waiting for the mailman to hand me my Country Living October/November/December issues.

Yes this time of year is the best, and I like to think it brings out the best in me.
I feel especially blessed for our most important addition of Liam this fall.

And by way of announcements, I would like to let you all know that we closed on a home today! We purchased a lovely speck just minutes from our town home. Initially we intended to build, but that project and price got away from us quickly. No matter, I am thrilled with this new home and new adventure. It contains a fireplace with mantel and-hold your breath-a craft room so glorious it brings me to tears! Yes I am so blessed. Very very lucky. I hope I always remember that.
Alright, time to end this rambling.

7 Months! Can you believe it?

The first thing I noticed when taking Liam's 7-month photos was this kid has really become a mover doer... He was all over the place, reaching for the camera, shaking his arms, flirting. I only got about two in focus. Great job mom. But seriously, I am addicted to this kid. I love him more than overweight children love cake (very pc of me). He is the chocolate to my milk. I would rather go without oxygen than him.
So yeah.
I like him a lot.

WitchFest the Fest!

And now the moment you have all been waiting for...The WitchFest itself!

The streets of Gardner Village were certainly a sight to behold! Witches decked out in witchy-wear danced under lights to Gangnam Style...which was epic. I couldn't not share some of my random witch pics...(I seriously don't know one person in these pics but they were adorable witches I couldn't resist snapping a shot).

WitchFest Pre-Party

At the magical land of Gardner Village there is a fest called WitchFest. It is here that once a year all the witches of Utah assume their native dress and witchy-ness. They live among you for 11 months of the year, behaving normally, dressing normally. But once bewitching October hits, we witches strap on our spooky hats and fly on our brooms to a festival that is not to be beat. Of course there is a pre-party that only the most select witches attend. Pictured are the witches themselves: Annie, Trish, Jodi, Vicky, and me (of course).

So stay tuned for tomorrow's post, where this witch will cast a spell on you with photos from the cackle-fest itself!

Jazzy

I don't know about you, but when I hear, "Hey do you want go to a pre-season Jazz game and sit in literally the highest seats in the arena?" I am like, "Fetch Yes!"
So that is exactly what we did.
We bundled up, drove to the big city, and trekked a long rainy walk to Energy Solutions Arena.
Nugget was pissed most of the game, but I snatched a precious pic of him sleeping.

These last two pics are priceless. We couldn't get Liam to look away from this fountain for a second. You notice his intense focus in the final pic?
You may also notice that I did not take one single picture of the game. I guess I just enjoyed the company and the Seattle-like rain.

Fabric Pumpkins DIY

This delightful fall fabric pumpkin craft originally came from Martha Stewart (or her people) but the tutorial I used was from A Blog by Danielle Thompson. It was an absolutely wonderful tutorial, and she has a good sense of humor too. So here we go...

The weekend of last was a special time for us MOs (a.k.a. Mormons). Twice a year we MOs hear from Church leaders at what is called General Conference (if you are so curious as to know what General Conference is you can check it out here). Anywho...conference weekends are kind of like a crafting Mecca for me. And I couldn't pass up the fabric pumpkins, I just couldn't.
And as it turns out, this craft is really friggen easy! What was hard was doing a photoshoot holding a bunch of stuffed pumpkins. I was like, What face says, "This was a fun craft and I like fall". Here's what I came up with:

Awkward side glance
I am REALLY REALLY happy about these pumpkins!
Affectionate glance at pumpkins
Lets go ahead and cut out my face.
In retrospect, I probably should have just nixed the self-portraits with pumpkins photos. I mean how do you hold them in a flattering pose? Plus, the pumpkins were really adorable enough to stand (or sit) on their own.

Happy pumpkin crafting!
